30th august rip geoffrey perkins, creator
of mornington crescent The creator of Mornington Crescent and former
head of comedy at BBC TV, Geoffrey Perkins,
died in a road accident
in London yesterday. He was 55. A talent such as his will be sorely missed by
all comedy fans.
26th august hamish & dougal book out
this week The book based on the
doings of Hamish & Dougal from their radio series is published later this
week. Called The Doings of Hamish and Dougal: You’ll Have Had
Your Tea? it is based on the show scripts, and includes among other things
illustrations by Graeme Garden. Something to keep you chortling as the evenings
start to draw in.

that recordings for I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue will resume
next year. Briefly, no final decision has been made on who the new Chairman
will be (other than it will not be one of the regulars), and initially various
people will take on the role in the style of the TV quiz show Have I Got
News For You.
